Key Word Searching, what words to choose?
How do you know if you are using good keywords in your PPC ad or your web page.
Well there are many pay tools available that will help you with this but what if you are just starting off. The best free tool I have found is Google AdWords Keyword Tool
https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal
You enter a seed word or a main word and Google will tell you how how often that word is used and similar words like that word. What you are looking for are words that get good traffic but not too much traffic. Whats good traffic? That is always subjective but the rule I use is over 1000 searchs in a month.
Secondly, you want key words that do not have too much traffic. Do a Google seach on those key works you selected and see how many results you get. Anything under about 300k is good but the lower the better chance you have of being able to dominate that key word.
Before you run with any new key words you want to test how they will perform. Although there are several paid tools like HexaTrak http://www.hexatrack.com/ a free way is to run your keywords in ads on Google PPC using very low bids, like 10cents that will most likely not give you any clicks so it does not cost but after a few days you can see the average bid price to be on the first page. Use those key words that have low first page bids and give you key words a test drive. This is also a good way to get started in PPC to learn with out being bit as so many of us have done their first time.
Thats it for today. Until next time.
